Gratitude

In all honesty it's been a pretty rough day.  I stayed up pretty late last night working on some homework (luckily I don't work at 4 am anymore).  Today I realized that my paper (that I haven't started on) is due THIS WEEK! not next week like I thought....oops!  I had my first day of my new job today, which I was excited about, but I could only focus on how much more homework I have to do.  I stopped off at a Mavericks on the way home and bought 5 bottles of 5-hour Energy...I shouldn't have to use all of them....but just in case.  It's gonna be a long night for sure!
I figured i'd stop in to check on things (and see if I got anymore sign ups for the Lazyman Ironman Triathlon Giveaway...don't forget to email me so you can be entered!) and I saw that my good friend and fellow blogger Tausha was at it again, constantly bringing me more inspiration and motivation to get going!  She did a short-sweet little post (my favorite kind!) about gratitude, being grateful for things that we have everyday. You can see her post here.
I instantly started thinking about the good things in life and I wanted to make a short little list so, here it goes:

I am grateful for: (in no particular order)
My family, my roommates, the opportunity I have to be in school, the gospel, the atonement, the spirit, my job, my health, technology, inspiration, the internet, flip-flops, 5-hour energy, texting, movies, sunshine, new friends, and old ones, clean dishes, music, my car, The New York Times, CNN, NPR, Disneyland (i'm serious!), lazy Sunday's, Amazon.com, warm showers, the scriptures, baseball (opening day will be here so fast!!!!), knowledge, culture, diversity, heck a whole slew of things!
I recently bought a couple of MoleSkine notebooks from target...just little tiny ones. (I highly recommend them, they're just great!) and I planned to use one for everyday note taking, phone numbers, dates, random lists...what have you.  The thing is, they come in packs of two and I didn't know what I would use the other one for....I think I will use it for a little gratitude journal.  And let me tell you i'm so excited to begin!
So, on that note, I want to offer you all a challenge:
1) go to Target and buy a pack of MoleSkine notebooks.  Whatever size.
2) designate one as your daily gratitude journal
3) everyday fill the page with things you are grateful for, this should be really easy if you get the wallet sized one
4) give the other notebook to a friend and ask them to write a gratitude journal also!

I've done this in the past and I can tell you, everything is so much better when you are aware of things to be grateful for!  Hopefully you'll all take my challenge (and join my giveaway)!

HAVE A GOOD ONE!!

Guest blogger -- Making a difference!

Okay everyone! (all what, three of you?) My friend Tausha needs your help!
Her blog is usually only a hop skip and a jump away but today its RIGHT HERE!
This is her gorgeous face!
And just below you get to read about what an awesome difference her
and her husband are making in the world!
Be the difference with her!

Tausha, its all you!

::

Did I get your attention??
Good, I wouldn't be here if I didn't need the help. my good friend and fellow blogger Holly, has agreed to let me post on her blog! THANKS lady! (Oh, and if your not participating in her lazyman, you better! I'm doing it!)

I promise I will steal the spotlight only for a moment.... I'm so excited to be able to reach out, and get as much as attention as we can get. I've come across the opportunity to change so many lives, and I need help!
This October, my husband and I (we blog at http://www.chadandtausha.com/) will be traveling with a good friend of ours to Uganda to help build a pig farm for the individuals in Uganda. We are aspiring to raise $10,000 to build the piggery and to help educate on the specifics of Pig Farming. This pig farm will help thousands of people and will dramatically improve their way of life for GENERATIONS to come. Each family involved with the project will be given two piglets; one male and one female. They will receive proper training on feeding, breeding, and care. And amazingly enough, within a year of receiving their piglets and yielding just 10 additional piglets, a single family can:
Pay school fees to 10 kids in a grade school for a year
Buy home supplies
Save at least US$ 500 per year
Buy the needed supplementary food for the family
Pay medical bills in a good hospital
Buy a bicycle as means transport for the family
Within two years a farmer can build a cemented house with metal roof
Thats why we are asking all of our friends and family who carry even a slight desire in their heart to do good, and all those who share the same spirit and fire that carry these amazing people, to help us reach our goal.
A donation, no matter how big or how small, means you will have contributed to the ultimate gift for a person in need: The gift of opportunity.
And, I'm known for bribes so: if you donate $20 to this AMAZING cause, I will send you a 100% customizable banner for FREE!
(I'll pay shipping too!)
Thanks so much for letting me visit!!

Lazyman Ironman Triathlon ...and a giveaway?!

So it happens to the best of us.  We think to ourselves, I’m going to run a 10k!  I’m going to sign up for that triathlon.  I’m going to train for that marathon!

….but what really happens?

Well for some of us it might actually happen.  But for a lot of us life takes hold and we are just too busy!  Some goals are just beyond our reach and a year passes and we look back and think, where did the time go? How did I miss so much?

It’s time we take hold of our lives!  While we may never have the time to train for and run in a marathon…it is never too late to get fit and healthy!

So I decided, I would put something together for all of us to participate in!
No matter how busy!
It's a great way to get fit and be active!  And the best part is you can do it at your own pace and fit it into your own schedule!
I've adopted the rules from the YMCA's Lazyman Triathlon rules.  We have about 42 days, from (edit: dates changed) March 12 -April 22 to swim, bike, and run just like a real triathlon!
I hear this is also great training for a 5k or 10k! ;)

So...the rules are as follows:
Swim 2.4 miles or water exercise (2 hours = 1 mile)
Bike 112 miles or Elliptical 112 miles or
Group Cycling Class (45 min = 8 miles or 30 min = 6 miles)
Run or walk 26.2 miles or attend a 60 min step/cardio or
kickboxing/bootcamp class (1 class = 3 miles)

Most gyms have classes that are acceptable for the triathlon if you decide
not to run, bike or swim.
Just get in there and get active!

Hopefully you will all be able to participate and let all your friends know so that they can participate as well!

Everyone that participates in the triathlon will be entered for a chance to win a free t-shirt!
There will be five winners.
In order to make sure you are entered for the giveaway you will have to email me with your name, phone number, t-shirt size and a physical address where I can send the shirt.
(edit: I will get the physical address at the end from the winners only)
And once a week you will need to email me your progress for that week.
You can email me at hollystumbles@gmail.com if you want to make sure you're on the list for the giveaway.
(the winners will be announced on April 16 at the end of the triathlon)

So let's go!  Let's get fit in spite of our schedules! You'll never feel better!
