<p dir="ltr">Whoever decided to make jeans a mainstream thing needs to be shot.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Seriously though, they are a pain in the tuckus to put on, they are incredibly binding and you can hardly move in them, and have you ever worn jeans on a hot day? Like, when you actually have to do stuff?<br>
yeah, I don't think so!<br>
And don't even get me started on wearing jeans in the humidity!!</p>
<p dir="ltr">Lets talk about style.<br>
You will look one of three ways when wearing jeans<br>
• Smoking Hot<br>
• Super Nerd<br>
• Mom</p>
<p dir="ltr">This is true for males and females.</p>
<p dir="ltr">So let me make a suggestion.<br>
Just stop.<br>
I can't live upto these expectations.</p>

It has been quite some time has it not?<br />
I'm not sure what happened or where i've been, but here I am! Let me tell you the important things.<br />
I now live in Rohnert Park, California with my sister Courtney, Brother-in-law Jorge, and of course my super handsome 18 month old nephew Emilio. Courtney is also pregnant with another baby boy due here sometime in early to mid April. I'm a super excited auntie!<br />
I work as a full-time teller at Wells Fargo in Petaluma, California...just a hop, skip and a jump from my house...and I love my job! I am very happy that I decided to come back to the banking industry and plan to be with Wells for a long time!<br />
I am still single. Shocker!<br />
And I am beginning what I hope and plan to be a life changing fitness journey! I may blog about it, I may not...we'll see how things go.<br />
<br />
But to begin....Last year I lost 46 pounds between January and June. It was pretty awesome! I honestly wasn't really noticing it until my cousin said, and I quote, "have you lost weight? you're looking...svelt!" (no idea what that means) but it felt awesome!<br />
The truth is...I was standing on the scale always! So I know the pounds were coming off...I just didn't know from where because in the mirror....everything looked the same to me. Then I started taking pictures and comparing them. That's when I noticed that perhaps things really were changing.<br />
In my face, I went from this....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_lDgZ9gEwqRAM8aQ7_cYzTRGA0uYmIKRfKHgVLKs-u0jSzdwpQChl5Lfb8AjXgZ9lca5pC1hL4hikHr84Rry51a63LMZ4F6Yqik-pKhUrXZ5NI-FBBCqViCkzJbkY02x2i_oNhjd1j5qW/s1600/Snapshot_20120104.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_lDgZ9gEwqRAM8aQ7_cYzTRGA0uYmIKRfKHgVLKs-u0jSzdwpQChl5Lfb8AjXgZ9lca5pC1hL4hikHr84Rry51a63LMZ4F6Yqik-pKhUrXZ5NI-FBBCqViCkzJbkY02x2i_oNhjd1j5qW/s1600/Snapshot_20120104.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
to this....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ZKBwOnGN7IcPmwQ8TVgZOthpBiTVoUV0IjVUOpmklv1UukRoz_pvp4b_HRrlLWHmFf1-wwjEfnwn7bhEyim_V-k0TEadlwAnxVN9h78c_XS2E9UhCEkj2TsGm6DaTdaIBRSizuqc5NHY/s1600/IMG_2840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ZKBwOnGN7IcPmwQ8TVgZOthpBiTVoUV0IjVUOpmklv1UukRoz_pvp4b_HRrlLWHmFf1-wwjEfnwn7bhEyim_V-k0TEadlwAnxVN9h78c_XS2E9UhCEkj2TsGm6DaTdaIBRSizuqc5NHY/s1600/IMG_2840.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That was huge to me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then there's this lovely picture...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY7hMo98IsznBpJ8isbwdVdXGhyphenhyphenYJMhT127vEiN5eCQhhctXfSWGwwgFMDfcN8YCpyJRlx3PdZoOh6lvFf6munOaEIoWGb_HYfkz94XAOOdU4IBB9JpwJb9BP1qwaUVOz0xGD81xDc3dWB/s1600/photo.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY7hMo98IsznBpJ8isbwdVdXGhyphenhyphenYJMhT127vEiN5eCQhhctXfSWGwwgFMDfcN8YCpyJRlx3PdZoOh6lvFf6munOaEIoWGb_HYfkz94XAOOdU4IBB9JpwJb9BP1qwaUVOz0xGD81xDc3dWB/s1600/photo.PNG" height="320" width="209" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a six month difference.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Listen, I know it could have been better...but the point is..it happened! Noticing the difference in my arms was HUGE to me! I have always hated my arms because they are the most difficult thing to disguise or hide. The don't make Spanx for your arms and even if they did I probably couldn't afford them. So I was happy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did an amazing job last year but i'm afraid to admit...it was not all because of my efforts. My job required me to walk two hours a day and my favorite fast food joint was about a thirty minute drive. Don't get me wrong I was grateful for the push! But its time I do it all myself. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't have to walk a dog everyday and Taco Bell is about a 5 minute drive...2 if i'm hungry enough. So what now? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, for one of my New Years Resolutions I vowed to cut out soda. And I did an AMAZING job for about...20 days. :( I've struggled since then but I have not failed. As a former smoker I know these things take time. Unfortunately for me I have an addiction to caffeine. I am blessed with a love of Tea so i'm finding healthier methods of getting my fix....but I still have a love of soda. Damn you Pepsi Co.! Damn you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another of my resolutions is to lose more weight. And that's not going to happen in one day either. I'm afraid actually, that I may have gained back some of what I lost...and that's not okay. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, its time to get back on the horse. It's time to take control of my life and my body! I don't have an elaborate plan. I don't have a contract with a Crossfit coach and I'm not taking up a Yoga lifestyle. I am, however, going to make healthier choices. I am going to get back into the gym...whatever I do there...the point is i'll be there. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love working out and being active! Its just easier to be lazy....well, enough is enough.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All I can say is, wish me luck. And perhaps I will keep you all updated along the way! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

They will take a shower, dress themselves professionally and spend quite a bit of time in front of the mirror making themselves look, at least decent, before they head off to spend time with "the man".<br />
In my case, however, it would be a complete waste of my time, my energy, and my beauty products if I were to do this on a typical work day.<br />
My morning consists of me waking up only five minutes before I need to begin working. I spend that time slipping into a pair of gym shorts and deciding which extra large, white, v-neck, t-shirt I want to wear for the day. The only time I spend in front of the mirror is during the hand washing process, in dim lighting after my morning throne time. Or slipping my hair up into the messiest ponytail the heat and humidity of the day will allow. From there I need merely, to decide, whether I shall wear tennis shoes or flip-flops for the day...usually I go with flip-flops because I can just slip them on in the garage.<br />
After this strenuous morning ritual I walk up the stairs to an area that always seems to be at least twenty degrees hotter than the basement in which I reside, and I begin my work day.<br />
I spend my time, cooking, cleaning, driving, and sweating mostly. Only to come back downstairs late at night to take a shower, pass out and do it again the very next day.<br />
But today is a special day. You see, today is my day off! I don't have anyone to cook for. I have no plans to even think about getting in the car and driving anywhere. And I get to spend the whole day inside, where it is beautifully air conditioned. So today, you see...a day where most people would be lounging around in their sweatpants with greasy hair eating junk food. Or going out and about into the summer sun to do some fun activity that their job usually prevents them from doing...Today, I feel pretty. :)<br />

And I promise, i'm not writing this for attention or pity or, any of it. I'm just writing it...to get it out there. Because even if no one reads it, at least I know I wasn't scared to say it.<br />
<br />
I moved to Sandy Hook, Connecticut on December 1st, 2012 to be a nanny. I live with a great family who, in just one afternoon on Skype, I fell in love with. Two weeks later, something terrible happened. We were just sitting at the table, planning dinner, the other nanny and I. She was training me. And the phone rang with a toll free number, so we didn't answer it. But when the machine picked up....I was just scared and confused.<br />
<br />
On the machine we heard a recorded message from a woman that sounded pretty rattled. She said something to the affect of, "This is the superintendent of schools calling to inform you that all of the schools in the district are on full lock down until further notice, due to the shooting." I didn't hear the rest because I just kept thinking, what shooting?<br />
<br />
Dad (the father) came in just after, me and the other nanny immediately had him listen to the message and I was instantly online trying to figure out something, anything. The only information that I found was about a shooting the night before, in a town two hours away where someone shot her husband. We sat, pretty confused until Dad came downstairs with a bit of an explanation. There was a shooting at one of the schools, not our kids school, but all we knew was that supposedly, the shooter was on the loose.<br />
<br />
The other nanny and I had some errands to run so, with a bit of hesitation, we ventured out. At first we sort of just chatted about it. What happened? How? Why? Who could do this? But when we were in the store we started hearing the rumors...and our phones started ringing. Looks like word got out.<br />
<br />
I felt loved as I explained to my family members that I was okay, and the kids that I nanny were okay, but that's all I knew...and so far all that mattered. But in the car on the way back home, they announced on the radio that they had received confirmation that at least one child was dead. And that's when my heart broke.<br />
<br />
I've never dealt well with losing people. Whether they die or just moved in a different direction I always ache because of it. I love people too much. And I'm not trying to sound saint-like, its the truth. Sometimes its what drives people away from me.<br />
<br />
I've never really been sure where exactly it all started. The furthest back I can remember is a beautiful blonde young woman, younger than even I am right now, who taught my Sunday school class when I was only 5 or 6 years old. She was my favorite person at the time and I wanted to be just like her. I remember going to her wedding reception, and dancing with her and her husband, the looked so amazingly beautiful. But the next memory I have of them....is seeing them in the same wedding dress and white tuxedo in caskets at their funeral. They were in a car crash on their honeymoon and they went into a river.....I feel like a horrible person because I still have so much love for this woman and though I see her face in my mind all the time...I can't even remember her name.<br />
<br />
I haven't lived here for very long. And I don't actually know anyone that was lost on that day at Sandy Hook School. But I feel so hurt. I've been aching so badly inside for what happened that day and for how many people lost the light of their lives, their children. I feel like, its not fair for me to cry. I shouldn't be hurting because I didn't actually know any of them. Because I haven't been in this town long enough to be a part of it. It's just so hard for me to imagine what they had to have been going through. What happened that day? Why?<br />
<br />
I think to myself, "don't cry Holly, its not your right. You didn't know any of them. You didn't lose anyone."<br />
But after awhile I realized, its okay for me to cry because that means that I have a heart. It means that I care. I would be worried if this kind of thing didn't upset me.<br />
<br />
I just cannot imagine losing my niece or nephew. I cannot imagine losing my brothers and sisters...even if we don't really talk. I cannot imagine losing my parents. Or my friends. Some days I try to imagine how I would feel if one of the people that I love was taken from me...but instead I just end up thanking God that I don't know, or at least I don't remember what it feels like to lose someone so close. See all of the times in my life, when someone that I know or love was lost, I was too young to really remember any of it. But I see all too often, how the people around me feel, those who can remember it. And it kills me to see them hurting.<br />
And it hurts me so badly.<br />
<br />
I once told a friend of mine, "my shoulders are soaked with the tears of my loved ones, and my pillow is soaked with mine." I am always here for my friends and family and....anyone! If they need me, and I want people to know that they can always call me rain or shine, day or night. I may not always have the right answer and I probably won't have anything really great to say that will get you back on your feet. ...but I give awesome hugs. And I guess a lot of the time...I feel like no one is willing to do the same for me. That's probably not true, but that's just how I feel. Alone.<br />
<br />
I'm not exactly sure why i'm writing this. Probably just to get it out there. To let people know that I have a heart. Or just to let you know that, I am here, grieving along side you.<br />
<br />
For whatever it is....thanks for listening.<br />

And things have been mighty busy! Here are a few of the things that have happened in my life recently!<br />
<br />
I was able to go through the temple and receive my endowments! (pictures as soon as I find my camera!)<br />
<br />
I went to Colorado to spend some much needed time with my family and my best friend Richard.<br />
<br />
I have a new nephew!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: purple; font-size: x-small;">::Emilio was born on Labor Day in California and I cannot wait to see him when I get to visit for Christmas! ::</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: purple; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
I had to move...again!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: purple; font-size: x-small;">::I swear if it weren't for the washer and dryer in my apartment I would not live here! The management sucks and they are so unorganized it is ridiculous! I basically had two hours to move and clean everything because of their lack of communication! ::</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="color: purple; font-size: x-small;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have a new position at work! I am the Social Networking Coordinator...which means you can now find my on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/hollyjewell.sommerville" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/hosomm" target="_blank">Twitter</a> and <a href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/113810032270795511543/about" target="_blank">Google +</a>.....yay!!! I'll see you on the Inter-Web!!!<br />
<br />
Yesterday I was able to go do a session at the Idaho Falls Temple with some friends and we also went to the Museum to see their King Tut Exhibit....it was AWESOME!!!!!!<br />
<br />
Well, that's really all I can think of for now. Hopefully I'll be able to be better at keeping you all up to date. Until then...<br />
<br />
Vaya Con Dios!</div>

I know it i'm awful! It has been WAY too long since I have posted anything on here! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been so busy with work and working on my designs. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(check em out <a href="http://designbyjewell.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today I officially shipped my first ever paid design, so i'm really excited about that!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also designed my sisters baby shower invitations as a surprise for her...I was so nervous that she wouldn't like them...but they turned great!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to be honest...I haven't been completely consumed by work.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a new obsession on TV...Gator Boys. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is seriously the best show EVER! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of course...this is in addition to my other obsessions; Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Real Housewives of New York & New Jersey, and Beverly Hills Nannies. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I realize that Gator Boys is on a whole other level...but seriously, its awesome!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Some big exciting news coming up...I am going to be going through the temple on August 28th!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am SOOOOO excited!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anywho....I think that's about it for now. I'm thinking of borrowing an idea from</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
a friend of mine and doing a weekly post like, "10 things from my week"? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What do you think?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That way at least everyone can stay updated?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'll ask her if I can use it and we'll go from there! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Love you!</div>

Here it comes! I'm starting a new semester this week! I'm really <strike>nervous</strike> excited for classes to start!<br />
An update on last semester..I passed all my classes! WOO-HOO!! I didn't do as well as I could have but at this point passing is acceptable. I got a B- in my English class! Totes wasn't expecting that!<br />
Okay well there was one failing grade on there but it was a mistake and the professor is correcting it for me. I have an A in that class! :) (always wondered, what is the difference between a teacher and a professor?)<br />
Anywho, I also have something really exciting that i'm going to start very soon! Just waiting on a package to be delivered (should get here tomorrow...EEEEEK!!!) I'm so excited!<br />
<br />
and for those who were involved in the triathlon great job! I have the t-shirts coming to you very soon! :) Make sure I have your address! hollystumbles@gmail.com<br />
<br />
Wish me luck on this new semester! my time-management skills need it!<br />
<br />

And seeing everyone's growing families makes me so happy for them! ...but I have to be honest for a second...sometimes it just makes me a little day-dreamy about my future family. So after reading through a few blogs I was being a little bit of a ridiculous girl and my roommate Caroline says to me, "Holly, God's time is the best. It's not denied, its just delayed. It will happen for you too and you will be so happy!"<br />
<br />
She is sooo right!<br />
<br />
<br />

I stayed up pretty late last night working on some homework (luckily I don't work at 4 am anymore). Today I realized that my paper (that I haven't started on) is due THIS WEEK! not next week like I thought....oops! I had my first day of my new job today, which I was excited about, but I could only focus on how much more homework I have to do. I stopped off at a Mavericks on the way home and bought 5 bottles of 5-hour Energy...I shouldn't have to use all of them....but just in case. It's gonna be a long night for sure!<br />
I figured i'd stop in to check on things (and see if I got anymore sign ups for the <a href="http://hollysomm.blogspot.com/2012/03/lazyman-ironman-triathlon-and-giveaway.html">Lazyman Ironman Triathlon Giveaway</a>...don't forget to email me so you can be entered!) and I saw that my good friend and fellow blogger <a href="http://www.chadandtausha.com/">Tausha</a> was at it again, constantly bringing me more inspiration and motivation to get going! She did a short-sweet little post (my favorite kind!) about gratitude, being grateful for things that we have everyday. You can see her post <a href="http://www.chadandtausha.com/2012/03/little-things.html">here</a>.<br />
I instantly started thinking about the good things in life and I wanted to make a short little list so, here it goes:<br />
<br />
I am grateful for: (in no particular order)<br />
My family, my roommates, the opportunity I have to be in school, the gospel, the atonement, the spirit, my job, my health, technology, inspiration, the internet, flip-flops, 5-hour energy, texting, movies, sunshine, new friends, and old ones, clean dishes, music, my car, The New York Times, CNN, NPR, Disneyland (i'm serious!), lazy Sunday's, Amazon.com, warm showers, the scriptures, baseball (opening day will be here so fast!!!!), knowledge, culture, diversity, heck a whole slew of things! <br />
I recently bought a couple of <a href="http://www.moleskine.com/">MoleSkine</a> notebooks from target...just little tiny ones. (I highly recommend them, they're just great!) and I planned to use one for everyday note taking, phone numbers, dates, random lists...what have you. The thing is, they come in packs of two and I didn't know what I would use the other one for....I think I will use it for a little gratitude journal. And let me tell you i'm so excited to begin!<br />
So, on that note, I want to offer you all a challenge:<br />
1) go to Target and buy a pack of MoleSkine notebooks. Whatever size.<br />
2) designate one as your daily gratitude journal<br />
3) everyday fill the page with things you are grateful for, this should be really easy if you get the wallet sized one<br />
4) give the other notebook to a friend and ask them to write a gratitude journal also!<br />
<br />
I've done this in the past and I can tell you, everything is so much better when you are aware of things to be grateful for! Hopefully you'll all take my challenge (and join my <a href="http://hollysomm.blogspot.com/2012/03/lazyman-ironman-triathlon-and-giveaway.html">giveaway</a>)!<br />

Good, I wouldn't be here if I didn't need the help. my good friend and fellow blogger Holly, has agreed to let me post on her blog! THANKS lady! (Oh, and if your not participating in her lazyman, you better! I'm doing it!)<br />
<br />
<div align="center">I promise I will steal the spotlight only for a moment.... I'm so excited to be able to reach out, and get as much as attention as we can get. I've come across the opportunity to change so many lives, and I need help!<br />
This October, my husband and I (we blog at <a href="http://www.chadandtausha.com/">http://www.chadandtausha.com/</a>) will be traveling with a good friend of ours to Uganda to help build a pig farm for the individuals in Uganda. We are aspiring to raise $10,000 to build the piggery and to help educate on the specifics of Pig Farming. This pig farm will help thousands of people and will dramatically improve their way of life for GENERATIONS to come. Each family involved with the project will be given two piglets; one male and one female. They will receive proper training on feeding, breeding, and care. And amazingly enough, within a year of receiving their piglets and yielding just 10 additional piglets, a single family can:<br />
Pay school fees to 10 kids in a grade school for a year<br />
Buy home supplies<br />
Save at least US$ 500 per year<br />
Buy the needed supplementary food for the family<br />
Pay medical bills in a good hospital<br />
Buy a bicycle as means transport for the family<br />
Within two years a farmer can build a cemented house with metal roof<br />
Thats why we are asking all of our friends and family who carry even a slight desire in their heart to do good, and all those who share the same spirit and fire that carry these amazing people, to help us reach our goal.<br />
<strong><span style="font-size: 180%;">A donation, no matter how big or how small, means you will have contributed to the ultimate gift for a person in need: The gift of opportunity.</span></strong><br />
And, I'm known for bribes so: if you donate $20 to this AMAZING cause, I will send you a 100% customizable banner for FREE!</div>(I'll pay shipping too!)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLRRtukx7WjsQx3RYw5FnyCn5-ksGO4wXEncfr9XBG6m7-C_x2QZUZB8Q1tTd9v1swLy14DRs4JPpLWvVT0TGRzdmzerX67xOZUHUHz5f9NxEHkdYnZTTp2ATPIp-4cxkXiHTcnsebdm8/s1600/love.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716171590693264402" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLRRtukx7WjsQx3RYw5FnyCn5-ksGO4wXEncfr9XBG6m7-C_x2QZUZB8Q1tTd9v1swLy14DRs4JPpLWvVT0TGRzdmzerX67xOZUHUHz5f9NxEHkdYnZTTp2ATPIp-4cxkXiHTcnsebdm8/s400/love.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 255px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 331px;" /></a><br />

We think to ourselves, I’m going to run a 10k! I’m going to sign up for that triathlon. I’m going to train for that marathon!<o:p></o:p></span></div><div align="center" class="separator" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><br />

But for a lot of us life takes hold and we are just too busy! Some goals are just beyond our reach and a year passes and we look back and think, where did the time go? How did I miss so much?<o:p></o:p></span></div><div align="center" class="separator" style="margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;"><br />

Here's the deal, I'm trying to become more...cultured. I realize everyday that i'm actually more into classical music, movies, and books than it may seem and so I've decided that I want to, not only read, watch and listen but actually own certain books and movies and go listen to music performances live! (and plays and musicals if the opportunity arises)<br />
<br />
I recently watched <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080678/">The Elephant Man</a>, with Anthony Hopkins. (not quite classic, it came out in 1980) What an amazing film! This movie is based on the true life of a Mr. John (Joseph) Merrick (there is some debate about whether his first name was John or Joseph) who lived in London in the late 1800's and was tortured because of a disease that made him incredibly disfigured. So sad! (I cried the whole time) Yet amazing! I recommend it!<br />
<br />
Now to the point....I am using <a href="http://amazon.com/">Amazon.com</a> for the second time. (the first time I received an Australian copy of a dvd, all that meant was that it wouldn't play on my american machine) needless to say i'm paying more attention this time. Anyway, I've done only a small amount of research and I've heard that Amazon is the best place to buy books and movies. Thoughts? Feedback? Suggestions? Hints? Tips? Tricks? Jokes?? Anything that can help me out??? Please let me know!<br />
<br />
I'm also taking suggestions on films to watch or books to read. My first goal is to make it through <a href="http://afi.com/">AFI's</a> 100 Years, 100 Movies list of 2007. Any other suggestions would be appreciated...or for books you can find me on <a href="http://goodreads.com/">Good Reads</a>, a website where you can tell people what you've read and they can give you suggestions for other books you might enjoy.<br />
<br />
Hope to hear from you! Maybe you can join me on this little adventure! :)<br />
<br />
TTFN!!HollySommhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09447212399152718709noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6393915268869723287.post-29921260850621138832012-02-04T08:53:00.000-08:002012-02-04T08:53:08.019-08:00Week 1As previously posted I am in a weight loss competition here at BYU-I called the Biggest Winner. It has been a crazy time! I've had a workout everyday this week! Some days I have even been twice. I am sore and tired and cranky and I don't know if I will make it to the end of the next six weeks. But you better believe i'm not going to give up! My trainers are AMAZING! They're always pushing me to do better. And even though I felt like I might have literally passed out this morning, I finished my workout and even sprinted that last half lap of our run and ya know what?! I'm still here, alive and kicking. I really hope and pray that I will see some weight loss results soon but even if I don't, I am accomplishing something. Everyday that I walk out of this apartment and into that gym I've accomplished something. Everyday I tell my body that I can do it, and that I will.<br />
I think the best part is that I know that I am pushing myself to my limits. I know that because this morning I was grunting so much (and so loud) to push through my workout that the whole gym stopped to look, and I wasn't even embarrassed. I have no reason to be, I am doing this! <br />
I am always a little scared, coming back from the gym, that I might not make it up the stairs to my apartment....so far I haven't needed any major assistance so, we're doing good.<br />
So guys and gals....if you have any tips and tricks please, fill me in. If you need any? well, i'm all ears and i'll do the best I can...even if you just need a little push, a little motivation...well, I'm a great cheerleader!<br />
<br />
I am Holly Sommerville.<br />
And I'm losing, to win!HollySommhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09447212399152718709noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6393915268869723287.post-45229458708156789372012-01-28T20:19:00.000-08:002012-01-28T20:19:23.114-08:00The Biggest Winner<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGVT6wZpfSElHT05IdPNqSWMjHDlVBTwDVTW46w9OdNBpqVLQpra49i7HBqjHr6tq10DzZ7YWhGl1dIanVXbDBu-gP4r-amCoWUH-XAiLgnfQJWYgjuH_Eezp3e6_AMdzFZx3XaVu1_Zxw/s1600/tbw.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGVT6wZpfSElHT05IdPNqSWMjHDlVBTwDVTW46w9OdNBpqVLQpra49i7HBqjHr6tq10DzZ7YWhGl1dIanVXbDBu-gP4r-amCoWUH-XAiLgnfQJWYgjuH_Eezp3e6_AMdzFZx3XaVu1_Zxw/s320/tbw.png" width="320" /></a></div>Okay, it's almost here! The Biggest Winner weight loss competition at Brigham Young University-Idaho begins on Monday where I will meet my trainer and begin my workouts and what I plan to fondly refer to as my first day in hell! <br />
<br />
I'm so excited though! All weekend I've been looking up motivational quotes and posters to help me get pumped for Monday and I am posting them ALL OVER my apartment! <br />
<br />
I've been enlisting the help of my roommates to keep me motivated and to keep me AWAY FROM THE SWEETS!! That's going to be the hardest part for me...giving up carbs and sweets. :( Mostly the carbs and the soda. AAAAAaaaahhhh!!!!<br />
<br />
I'm really excited...and scared! And I am scouring the internet for tips....putting posters up everywhere! The biggest one says GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN! I have one on this very computer that says "If you're not doing homework get up and GET OUT!' ...probably my favorite! <br />
<br />
Any tips and motivation is much appreciated! I'm enjoying <a href="http://kalimatthews.blogspot.com/">Kali's</a> sugar free recipes and I am saving my favorites for when I am in dire need! Any healthy and delicious recipes would be great too! <br />
<br />
Wish me luck!HollySommhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09447212399152718709noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6393915268869723287.post-80154184769598536382012-01-23T16:52:00.000-08:002012-01-23T16:52:05.612-08:00Ranting and Raving - The BYU-Idaho Testing Center SUCKS! I never really thought that I would have anything to complain about here at BYU-Idaho but if you know anything about me...you knew this was coming. Today I ventured off for my first EVER experience with the BYU-Idaho Testing Center. I've heard some horror stories but I just shrugged it off. It can't be that bad right? Boy, was I wrong!<br />
I started on the Testing Center website to find out where it was. No luck there. I also wanted to see if there were any specific rules I needed to be aware of...nothing there either. Of course it lists the Testing Center hours, slightly helpful. And there is a link that says "Directions to Testing Center" but that only has driving directions to BYU-Idaho campus, and i'm pretty sure I know where that is! After messing around with the website for awhile I just decided I wouldn't wear skinny jeans and that would have to be good enough as far as the rules were concerned. After all I couldn't find anything telling me what else to do or not do. Luckily, I was finally able to get a clear answer on where it was located, from my roommates. So I was off. <br />
It's a good thing I had my I-card with me because apparently they need that to check you in. No one told me that. So they swipe my card, hand me a piece of paper and say good luck....I think I stood there for the longest thirty seconds EVER before he actually told me where to go! He gave me this weird look like, "What are you new here or something?" Yes, yes I am. So I walked in...found an empty desk and went for it...(the outcome of the test is irrelevant since I suck at math) Anywho, about an hour passes and i'm finished so I get up from desk and head for the door when two people at the same time, "WAIT YOU CAN'T GO THROUGH THERE!" and "SORRY HONEY THE EXIT IS OVER THERE!" Thanks for yelling at me in front of all these people, that was nice of you. You also interrupted them in the middle of their tests so i'm sure they appreciated it as well. By the way...since the exit is on the opposite side of the room and around the corner...my bad for not knowing where it was and trust me I looked for signs...there was one...and it was on the door you exit through. Which I couldn't see unfortunately because that door is on the other side of the room and around the corner!<br />
Maybe you will just see this as another horror story from the Testing Center....but now I know they weren't lying.HollySommhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09447212399152718709noreply@blogger.com0
